Frequently Asked Questions

How much do classes cost?

We have 6 different training programs that are available to you, depending on your goals. In addition, we do not have a set monthly fee, but rather a price for our program and then at least 4 ways to finance the program with discounts available from 5% to 20% off the program price. This way, every student has the potential to train at our facility based upon their needs. Since there are so many options to review, our policy is that we do not review pricing over the phone or during a walk in. Pricing is only reviewed after completing a free trial class, which has no obligation attached to it. This way you have the ability to see our facility, meet the instructors, observe class in session as well as speak to current parents and students for their direct feedback prior to making your decision to enroll. We always offer free trials in any of our programs. Please contact us today to schedule your 1st Free class by clicking here.

“Am I too old to train”

Not at all, it's never too late to start your dream and begin your quest towards the coveted Black Belt. In just a few years you can transform your life, increase your physical fitness, increase your energy level, increase your flexibility and your overall health and well being, not only physically but mentally as well. Take the first step forward to becoming a more productive human being by joining “The Karate Dojo” family,...you won't regret it.

How long does it take to achieve Black Belt?

Ranking and advancement is done on an individual basis and varies by the student based on their ability to present their personal best. Belt rank is not given out like candy and we take the advancement of our students very seriously. Our rotating curriculum provides an excellent and modern approach to teaching the martial arts. This approach produces the highest quality of students while reinforcing their technique through repetition and assuring that students learn how to set short term goals and achieve them. On average a Black Belt can be attained in 4 to 6 years but this varies per student.

How many classes may I attend?

Again this depends on the program that you participate in. Please see our schedule on the web site to see all class times. Some programs offer unlimited attendance and others can be attended 2-3 times per week. We will review this with you in full during your free introductory lesson.

If I’m a member and miss class due to sickness, vacation or any other reason, do I lose my classes?

Unlike a health club or other competitor karate schools, you never lose your time with us. As long as you actively communicate to the staff about your absences you will be given two options:
1) When you return you can attend an additional class or two to make up for the classes missed or
2) We will extend the time back to you at the end of your membership. If you miss a week get a week added back on, miss a month get the month added. You never lose your time and always get what you pay for.

Do I have to be physically fit or have previous experience to start training?

Absolutely not. Part of our service is to provide you with personalized training that caters to your individual needs. Whether it is flexibility, stress relief, weight loss, confidence, overcoming a previous injury or lack of energy, our classes will help you to develop your mind and body to it’s highest potential. Make sure that you make our staff aware of your goals and we will be happy to explain how we will personalize your training program so that you can continue to set goals and achieve them.

We have introduced our child to other sports like basketball, soccer, cheerleading, etc. but they always lose interest after a few months, how do you handle that?

First of all there is no comparison of a quality martial arts program with top notch instructors to other sports. The main difference between the two is that we are not an extracurricular activity. We are an educational facility that promotes values, character building and life skills. When you come to train at The Karate Dojo, our highly trained staff will assess the personal goals you or your child would like to achieve. This is not an overnight process and depends on the individual. Our training does not stop at the front door and we have a variety of ways that we follow up on our students behavior at home and at school. When you learn to view our martial arts program as educational training, similar to their primary education at school, you will have the highest success with our services. We guarantee that our program will have a positive impact on you or your child and we will be happy to review with you in, higher detail after your first trial class.

Will martial arts training make my child more aggressive?

Not at all. The reason that our students do not become more aggressive is because they are taught that their training is only to be used in an emergency. Also, our student’s confidence builds more each class, they also learn how to psychologically and positively deal with confrontation and the longer they train the less likely they will be to bully anyone or start a fight. Also we encourage all parents to have an open line of communication to our staff and to utilize our highly trained instructors as a resource to deal with any behavioral issues.

My child is ADD/ADHD will training in the martial arts help with their focus?

100% yes. Doctors do recommend that martial arts training can have a positive impact on their ADD/ADHD. We have trained and continue to train many students with these issues and have more success stories then we can list. Martial arts as a whole is designed to improve many areas but focus is definitely at the top of the list.
